New Seaton Summary
New Seaton, located near Pickering and surrounded by both rural areas and one of Durham Region’s two designated urban growth centres, is poised to become a new benchmark in urban sustainability.
A detailed strategy for New Seaton has been laid out in the Central Pickering Development Plan. The goal is to create a sustainable urban community that is inextricably linked to a vibrant agricultural community.
It’s a concept of a walkable, transit-friendly space with a vibrant street life and a healthy natural environment. The large Natural Heritage System makes New Seaton more more appealing, as it encompasses valleys, wetlands, and woodlots.
